Do not try this at home... at anyone's home.
Yes this is my actual lawn.
Today was a day I aimed to accomplish much and achieved a moderate amount of things.
I'd give myself a C overall.
My list was long, I suppose I was feeling ambitious.
My primary objectives were to get my mower ready for operation and to paint the shed doors. For me to accomplish these things I had to do a couple of things.
For the mower my plan was to remove the blade and bring it to Ace hardware to have it sharpened.
DISCLAIMER: Always remove the spark plug while doing anything under the mower. I went to remove the blade and I wasn't able to remove it.

Great.
My next best option was to head to Lowe's and get, among other things I needed, a blade sharpener to try to do it myself. I ended up picking up a sharpener you can use with an electric drill.

It was actually pretty user friendly and cost just as much as the one time charge at Ace Hardware to get your blade sharpened(Granted I didn't balance it since I couldn't get the blade off)
Before, dull chipped and bent blades, essentially just a grass plucker at this point rather than cutter.
So i tried out the blade sharpening bit.
Little metal shavings.
It did actually seem to do the job but the blade was also kinda bent so i have to bend that back into place with some pliers next time the gas tank is empty.
I also filled my portable gas container for the first time at the pump(which I was terrified to do mostly because I was convinced this would happen while transporting it)
So I crossed my fingers, filled my mower tank up, reconnected the spark plug, pulled the cord and nothing.
Pulled it again, nothing. I know after a certain amount of times you're just flooding the engine so after about the 6th firm pull I decided that I had hit my lawn mower threshold for the day and pushed it back into the shed. By this time I felt as though I was about to pass out from the heat and retreated indoors.
My face was the color of a beet.
The next things on the list were to paint the shed doors and also if I had time to plant my cement patio garbage bag dwelling hostas. It took me about an hour to cool down as I overheat pretty easily. In this time I had already come up with an alternative thing to accomplish.
We had the new floor put in and since then I've been meaning to figure out how to disguise or hide an unpainted piece of wood and places where the paint had peeled off from the install.
I figured for this I could paint the wood piece a similar paint color and call it a day.
So I got my paint brush and my little 8 fl oz jar of paint sample out.
The color was called "London Couch" and it cost me about $3
So I started painting and I got paint underneath the wood piece, so I thought "Hey I'll just blend it into the other color"
After about 5 minutes I realized this was not going to work as the colors were not similar, like at all.
I'd also like to add that due to the inconvenient spot this was in, I was essentially doing a push up with one arm on the shelf area while painting with the other arm and balancing on the edge of a stair. For the corners I hung off a rail, so I was being really safe.
So, panicked, I thought it might look better if the whole area there was painted, so I painted it and it looked better but then i had already gotten paint on the sides of the wall, so i started painting the sides of the walls as well.
At this point I got an old eye shadow brush to do the narrow spots and tried to make the bottom of the paint line look like a mountain range so that it would look more pleasing to the eye.
lol
no.
So I made an executive decision to keep painting with the ultimate plan of buying more paint and finishing that entire area.
Using just the paint brush and my 8fl oz jar of $3 paint I actually got this far, which I was very impressed with. Had I been using a roller and a pan I don't think it would have gotten me as far but I really only need another $3 jar of paint to finish the job and still have enough for touch ups.
I'm in the process of deciding if I want that entire entryway to be that color or just that wall.
I obviously at least need to finish that wall but I think i will probably decide if i want to paint the other wall based on how much of a pain in the butt it is to pain the higher up spots.
I didn't realize it was more of a grey color till it got on the wall but I like it and I think it is a bit more modern than the color that was there before.
I'll post the final pics when I finish it.
Go ahead and laugh.
